New research laboratory facility
Posted 21 October 2013
A new applied research facility has been officially opened at Harper Adams, to further enhance research laboratory provision at the university in Shropshire.
The laboratory was opened by four PhD students, representing the four academic departments who utilise the laboratories. They were joined by members of both academic and support staff and research students.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Mills, welcomed those at the opening. He said: “To accommodate the rise of research activity at Harper Adams, it became apparent that we needed to provide more facilities to conduct applied research.
“This new laboratory will complement the existing facilities for postgraduate students as well as our growing body of post-doctoral researchers.”
The Princess Margaret Laboratory complex contains laboratories with up-to-date equipment for the analysis of agricultural, environmental and food samples and provides excellent resources for science teaching and research.
Heading a team of experienced laboratory technicians, Dr Victoria Talbot, Laboratory Manager, said: “I am delighted that our plans for this laboratory have come to fruition.
“It will be a tremendous asset to the university and I look forward to seeing it being well used in the months and years to come. Our thanks go to all involved in bringing this project to its successful conclusion.”
To officially cut the ribbon were Isobel Whiting, Tijana Stancic, Fittonia Elgina and Rob Fillingham
